Adam A. Smith is a first-generation college graduate who has dedicated his almost three-decade career to ensuring college access and success for all Americans.
He currently works at The University of Kentucky as Executive Director for University Advising and has a vibrant public speaking and educational consulting firm, Adam A. Smith & Associates.
Smith has led coalitions and innovations that have had a dramatic impact on student success at Metropolitan State University, The University of Alabama, The University of Akron City of Rockford (IL), and Rock Valley College.
Linda D. Smith – Managing Partner and Senior Consultant
Linda D. Smith is the managing partner Smith Education Associates, LLC and serves as part of our program/student success audit team. Ms. Smith has served as a faculty member at community colleges in Illinois and Ohio and was on the faculty of the Department of Gender and Race Studies at the University of Alabama and currently a program administrator at the University of Kentucky in the College of Social Work. She has extensive higher education experience serving in various leadership roles at the University of Tennessee, Beloit College, and the University of Akron. She also has managed federally and state funded programs through the U.S Department of Labor and the State of Wisconsin.
Avis M. Brown – Associate Consultant
Avis M. Brown began working as a tutor/mentor for TRIO Upward Bound during his undergraduate career. Upon attaining his bachelor’s degree in mathematics, he served as Coordinator for Upward Bound at Rock Valley College and then transitioned to help launch the University of Akron’s Choose Ohio First STEM Scholarship program.
Mr. Brown currently serves as Director of Student Engagement at the University of South Dakota. He has served in leadership roles at the University of Akron, where he administered state and institutional model programs with graduation rates of over 80% in STEM disciplines. Brown possess a masters degree in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Akron and a Bachelors Degree in mathematics from Bethel University (TN).
Shanice M. Smith – Associate Consultant
Ms. Smith has worked in Power Five, Intercollegiate Athletics programs for over a dozen years. Her work centers on student athlete enhancement, leadership development, and academic success.
She currently serves as an Academic Counselor at the University of Kentucky, providing holistic support to the Wildcat Men’s & Women’s Track & Field and Women’s Tennis Teams. She has served in similar roles at the University of Alabama, Florida State University and the University of Louisville.
Ms. Smith possesses an undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati, where she earned all-conference honors as a track and field athlete and graduate degrees from the University of Louisville and the University of Alabama.
Alecia Anthony – Associate Consultant
Ms. Anthony has spent over a dozen years as a public school educator, specializing in title IV, urban schools, comprised of predominantly students of color from low-income backgrounds. She currently serves as a language arts instructional leader in the Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, Kentucky.
She possesses an undergraduate degree for Eastern Illinois University and a graduate degree from Indiana University, in secondary education and educational leadership. Alecia is a master educator, who focuses her time on students often deemed “at risk” and coaching and training teachers in real strategies to impact all students.
Christine Fabre’ Rose – Associate Consultant
Christine is a proud first generation college graduate from Bogota, Colombia who was raised in Miami, FL. Ms. Fabre’ Rose currently works as Assistant Director, Latinx Student Services & Outreach (LASSO) at Georgia State University. She holds a bachelors degree from Florida International University and a masters degree in social work from Berry University.
She has spent over a decade working in education, first as an advocate and case manager for LGBTQIA students and most recently working as a program administrator and student life coach for students pursuing STEM degrees in Ohio.
She is passionate about empowering young people, especially those from Latinx communities, serves on several community boards and is a devoted wife and mother.
LeRon Collier– Associate Consultant
LeRon currently serves as the Coordinator for University Advising Professional Development at the University of Kentucky.
He has a background in both Residence Life and Academic Affairs from Georgetown College, Eastern Kentucky University, Miami University (OH), and the University of Kentucky.
He has a B.A. in Elementary Education and a M.A. in Student Personnel Services in Higher Education. LeRon is an advocate for student development and student leadership. He has extensive experience supporting students and promoting growth. Additionally, LeRon considers it his mission to pour into others the way others have poured into him.
